10 GREAT LEICESTER BUSINESSES YOU CAN SUPPORT FROM HOME
Last Updated on 30th July 2021 by Bejal
Supporting local businesses and initiatives in my hometown Leicester is a priority for me and with the current uncertainty rising with many things, I wanted to give you folks some ideas on how you can show your appreciation for independents in the city. Whether it’s food, activities or some culture you’re looking for, here are some virtual ideas to keep your mind off the current happenings and supporting the local independents in Leicester….
Positive Bakes
I love the initiative that Positive bakes has come up with to help support our NHS frontline and volunteer staff. They have a number of delicious gluten free, allergen free, dairy free, soya free, refined sugar and palm oil free sweet treats to order on their website for home delivery. If you order a cake box to brownie box online between now and the end of June, they will donate the same to our selfless NHS heroes.
Access their website via the link below and lets treat our frontline healthcare workers to some sweet treats.

Betty Brown
The show stopping talented, Sukhina Garcia from Betty Brown Boutique is an absolute inspiration. She is currently making cotton masks and scrubs, prioritising health care workers. The masks of course are not the N95 but do provide some protection. She is doing this completely free of charge and urges you to get in touch if you would like one made and for details.

Leicester Coffee House Co.
One of my favourite coffee roasteries, Leicester Coffee House, sell coffee beans online so why not treat yourself to an exceptionally well sourced cup in the comfort of your own home? Coffee is posted every Tuesday and those wishing to collect can do so if working in the city. If you purchase two bags of coffee beans, then delivery is free.

Cocoa Amore
We may be stuck in isolation but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate Easter and eat all the chocolate you desire, well especially when it comes from Cocoa Amore. The Leicester based chocolatiers, have an array of chocolate eggs, bunnies and spring boxes that will fulfil your seasonal chocolate fix.
You may not be able to partake in the chocolate workshops, but you can still consume the chocolate, so be well prepared and start on your Easter shopping now on their website, Cocoa Amore.
Additionally you can purchase lolly and truffle making kits online and watch the demonstration on their YouTube channel. Go and enjoy these chocolate beauties in the comfort of your own home. They’ve also got a Easter Egg making kit coming up soon!!

Get active and have a lot of fun with ‘Lets dance Lisa’. There’s an array of dance workout styles to chose from including Clubbercise, Zumba, Move2Musicals and Figure of 8. The classes will be accessed via Zoom and Lisa will provide you with all the information to log on.
Booking is simple and it’s £3.50 per class per household so all the family can join in or you can purchase weekly/monthly passes.

Kwoklyn Wan
Kwoklyn’s grandfather opened Leicester’s first Chinese restaurant and so it was only natural for him to follow in the family tradition and become a chef. This local chef specialising in home-style cooked food runs Wantons on Fosse Road North (as well as doing live events, radio, magazines and a cookbook, The Chinese Takeaway) but also has a website with an online cookery classes coming soon and a range of recipes. Kwoklyn has even scheduled some regular Instagram live cookery sessions.

He stocks lost of locally produced items such as milk, cheese, samosas, cakes, dry items from NADA (the zero waste shop in St. Martins Square Leicester) as well as the usual offerings.
