A Little History: Hotel Lilla Roberts
The property itself dates to 1909 and was designed by architect Selim A Lindqvist and started life as Helsinki’s power plant. In 1931 the current Art Deco style of the building was completed and planned by Helsinki’s official architect, Gunnar Taucher It wasn’t until 1974 that it became a Police Headquarters. In 2012 the police department vacated the property, and it was left empty.
In 2015, the building was transformed into the stylish Hotel Lilla Roberts that we see today.
Location of Hotel Lilla Roberts
Hotel Lilla Roberts is located in the heart of the Design District, just on the edge of the historical city centre. It is within a stone’s throw of the cities food and drinks scene with many bars and renowned restaurants and cafes accessible within a few minutes.
The hotel is around 30 minutes by taxi from Helsinki Vamtaa airport and 10 minutes was away from Helsinki’s Central Railway Station, Helsingin päärautatieasema. All public transport links are close-by.
The closest parking is Aimo Park Barracks Market, where hotel guests can receive a 20% discount which can be requested from reception.
The Lobby
As you’re greeted by the automatic front doors of this boutique residence, you’ll be transformed to not a world of imagination but one that is real. Welcome to Hotel Lilla Roberts, a real life art deco of dreams, surrounded by a plethora of exquisite paintings, unusual arts and artefacts, atmospheric lighting and the signature black and white checkered floor

The 24-hour manned reception with the helpful front of house team will offer you a warm welcome to the left. Checking in and out is a complete breeze, effortlessly executed with an express orientation of the hotels facilities and maps of the surrounding area, the team here are happy to take care of all your needs to make yours stay as memorable as possible.
The remainder of the large Lobby space is consumed by a rather dapper Scandinavian lounge atmosphere. Leather sofas in dark tones with scattered burnt orange occasion chairs. Low level bookcases with artsy reading material that’s perfect for a coffee table or two, ornaments and watch out for the freestanding wooden horse at the side of the gold toned reception counter.


Towards the back of the lobby is the Bar Lilla E, where you can watch the bartenders shake you’re your favourite beverage or even coffee.

Additionally, there are large walnut wooden tables with reclining backed leather slow chairs if you’re planning to have a small group drinks or meeting.
If you fancy something a little more intimate, lounge out with a coffee in the small alcove on the deep magenta velvet button back Chesterfield styled sofa.

The Rooms & Suites
Hotel Lilla Roberts has 130 stylish rooms laid out over six floors, many benefitting from city views. There are five categories including Comfort, Style, Lux, Junior Suite and Suites.
If you require more space or fancy splashing out on a special luxurious trip, why not book the hotels most prestigious suite, which is 100 square metres and overlooks Kasarmitori Square. The suite comprises of two bedrooms, bathrooms and a living room.
The Lux Room
This particular Lux Room was situated on the third floor, spanning the curvature of the building. The room benefits from great city views towards the front of the hotel. The décor is in keeping with the Art Deco inspired vibe of the rest of the hotel and think dark tones, voiles in the windows, faux fur throws, Nordic styled chairs and a leopard print comfy sofa at the foot of a huge and spacious bed.

Decorative pieces in the room include black and white patterned vases, a bronze elephant light stand, local artwork and circular contemporary black freestanding lamps.
All mod cons are present in the room including TV, telephone, Nespresso machine with pods, a minibar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as snacks, There is also a small bar fridge. A small kettle and tea, UHT milk and instant coffee are also contained within the mini bar unit.
No need to take your travel iron either as these are included in the double wardrobe accompanied by an ironing board.
The bathroom is white with a vanity area which can hold a couple of washbags, hairdryer and a very lovely rain shower over the bath.
All amenities are by The White Company’s Noir collection and are replenished as and when needed. There are also full size bottles of the shampoo and shower gel on a stand.


Wining & Dining at Hotel Lilla Roberts
Bar Lilla E
Located in the Lobby Bar Lilla E is the place to go for all your cocktail needs as well as night caps, and coffee. Take a pew on one of the stylish accent chairs and allow the bartenders to mix you up one of the classics or even a Lilla Roberts house special. Spend the evening relaxing in this beautiful space with a drink or two in hand.

If you’re planning a bit of a soiree why not look into hiring your own bar tender at Bar Lilla E. A dedicated mixologist to make up all your drinks on tap so all you have to do is enjoy the evening and relax.
Summer Terrace
During the summer months, the Bar Lilla E terrace is open in the courtyard space where you can enjoy a fine drink or two from the signature drinks menu or even have some food from the adjoining Krob Roba Nordic Restaurant, which can be accessed via the hotel. The terrace is in the courtyard where the former power plant was extended into. The terrace features a top bar area, rattan seating, decking as well as an astro turfed area. The vibe is pretty chilled, with parasols out to protect from the summer sun. The décor is neutral with a pretty selection of potted and border plants making use of this historical space perfectly.


Restaurant Krog Bar

Located adjacent to Hotel Lilla Roberts and accessible through the hotel itself, Krog Roba is a casual Nordic-style restaurant, which serves an à la carte menu as well as a three-course fixed menu each night. They do a great selection of dishes to suit all dietary requirements from local meats, fresh catch of the day. Their vegan and vegetarian options are both creative and seasonal and all food is presented like a work of art combining fresh vivid colours. Krob Roba is open to hotel guests as well as non-residents.

The decor is very much light wood and mismatched seating with an interesting mix of rattan and metal lampshades. The true epitome of Nordic style.

Set Menu: 49€ plus drinks. All dishes can also be ordered a la carte.
As well as dinner, the restaurant offers some light lunches and on Sundays they also do a weekend brunch menu. Light lunches include a variety of burgers, garden salads with hummus and other fresh ingredients as well as a few options of Caeser salad.
Breakfast
Room rates include at Hotel Lilla Roberts a delicious continental breakfast each morning which is served in Krog Roba from 07:00-11:00. Choose from a range of hot and cold drinks, local hams, cheeses, breads, pastries, cakes, juices preserves, cereals and much more. The breakfast also has a small warm selection of foods such as scrambled and boiled eggs, sausages, grilled tomatoes and pancakes


Restaurant Pohjoissiip
If you’re looking for a private dinner venue or hosting a private dinner, there is a private dining room adjacent to Krog Roba, Restaurant Pohjoissiip. It’s just off the terrace and tables can be arranged to suit the event or evening. The area is also portioned off to allow for privacy. The room can accommodate around 40 persons.
